But there’s more to it than that, it’s also about inclusivity and representation, and popular singer Pasoori Ali Sethi believes in that too. Ali Sethi is a Pakistani singer who has good and melodious songs to his name and he performed at the International Musc Festival at Coachella. Dressed in a crisp white Angarakha, Sethi set the tone for a melodious night with alaap, conjured up into some traditional tunes and how could the OG anthem that connects the two countries, be missed? Pasoori won all hearts during this time. Representing his country Ali Sethi just wowed his audience with Rajakumari on stage. Taking to Instagram, Ali Sethi captioned his post, “no representation without inclusion, and I am so happy to see our diverse and amazing family light up the gobi tent also thanking pooja on the last slide, twaada jazba bemisaal ay. ”

Ali Sethi wore an elaborate white Angarkha and pulled off the ‘Mughal Casanova’ look with elegance and confidence. She represented her culture on Day 2 of the music festival by reimagining the 15th century fashion trends worn by royalty.

Ali Sethi knows his way around fashion and with Pakistani Fashion Designer Fahad Husain they created a beautiful piece for the American Music Festival.

Divulging facts about his inspiration for the outfit, Fahad Hussayn describes his creation as “The inspiration for his look was Ali himself. She represents so many of us to the world, I make her a traditional anrakha with 80 kalis and I have the fabric woven for the garment, pure raw cotton unadulterated, exclusively woven and consumed around 100 yards including the lining. I was so excited for Ali’s landmark show, I imagined the texture of a dessert at Coachella and I felt like adding layers to it so I made it traditional jama in the same cloth to line it. Topped with unique boots and a few pearls. Ali & I discussed and envisioned him straight from a miniature but a complete rebel from a character like Mughal Casanova. We shopped via WhatsApp for boots and discussed the lining and the joy and the fact that I could contribute to everything our friendship stands for. ”

Adding historical details to this fashion piece, Instagram blogger Aamir Ali Shah shared a post on his social media explaining what the outfit is all about. The blogger captioned it, “This piece has over 80 triangular panels (times) to add to the flare and as a whole the ensemble uses over 100 yards of hand-woven cotton. The jama is primarily a robe, originating in 15th century India, and consisting of a bodice and gathered skirt with a breastplate crossing at the armpits. It was fairly common until the late 17th century only to be supplanted by the Choga and Angarkha.”

Ali Sethi chose a monochrome pattern for the Coachella festival. On the first day he wore a black trouser suit with several colorful but unique patterns and was complemented by a hat.

Some people compared him to Indian actor Ranveer Singh and one user wrote, ‘Pakistan ka Ranveer Singh.” While another commented, “Chordiyan b pehn lete to or ache lgte.” Despite this little, Sethi’s day 2 Coachella performance divided the internet.

However, his fans condemned the comments and supported his choice. Another one tweeted, “It’s called fashion look at it baby.” One fan also wrote, “What happened to you guys? He just wears traditional clothes.”
