What’s the most important fashion event of the year? Fashion week in Paris, maybe. Others may bet in honors

shows like the Oscars. The Met Gala, however, is out of the question.

This year, the Met Gala has the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”, which has made the anticipation of fashion moments even higher. In honor of the late designer, the Met Gala and costume exhibition will explore Lagerfeld’s prolific career in fashion, film, photography and art.

Dressing according to the theme is not a request, but a wish. While other gala’s during the month called for black tie, the Met Gala lived on the line: “more is more.” Most men in the evening think it is best to play with their own designer uniforms. James McAvoy and Edward Enninful, for example, wore a look reminiscent of Lagerfeld’s signature black jacket, vest, and tie look. Co-Chair Roger Federer wore sunglasses, as did Tom Ford. The only thing missing? Horse tail.
