Organic versus regenerative – what’s the difference?
Organic farming (OA) is a holistic approach that maintains and enhances soil health and includes biological cycles. This is achieved by applying agronomic, biological and mechanical techniques instead of using synthetic inputs to perform specific functions in the agricultural system. Organic farming complies with these rules:
- No chemical pesticides,
- No synthetic fertilizers,
- No plants are genetically modified,
- Responsible use of energy and natural resources.
Regenerative agriculture (RA) is a holistic approach to agriculture that highlights the relationship between agricultural systems and wider ecological system. Regenerative farming is a concept rather than a predefined set of requirements. It involves a practice-based assessment of a farming system that strictly adheres to the five recognized ones principle:
- cover ground,
- avoid ground disturbance,
- increase crop diversification,
- maintains living roots in the earth all year round

Regenerative agriculture aims to improve soil quality and biodiversity while profitably producing nutritious agricultural products.
