Call them restaurant wreckers, a mother and her six daughters have gone viral for wearing their wedding dresses to dinner, just because.

“We decided that the most expensive dress we owned deserved to be worn & enjoyed more than a day of our lives,” Alexis Houston captioned an Instagram video of her sister, sister-in-law and mother going out to dinner in their whites. gown. “We’ve decided to make this an annual tradition.”

While visiting Studio 1A on Friday, June 9, the group told TODAY’s Hoda Kotb that the plan is now to not just make wedding dress evening an annual tradition, but “do it every month,” especially after it was so well received online. and personally.

“Everyone (like): What happened? Did you just get married? Where is your husband? Can I take a picture with you?” Terri Bonin, matriarch of the family, told Hoda, adding that the “questions were endless” during the group’s special night out.

The video, with almost half a million likes, shows the women and their babies heading to a True Food restaurant in Texas.

The wedding party consisted of Bonin and daughters Madeleine, 28, Alexis, 25, Annalize, 23, and Kate, 18. Plus, Bonin’s daughters-in-law Hannah Joy, 26, and Sydnie, 25.

Bonin told TODAY that his family has dinner together every week.

“Once a week, we have a family dinner where everyone… husband and baby… come to my house,” she says. “And we girls like to hang out alone once a month… at our house (or) go out (do) different things.”

We are our support group, so we come together once a week. I don’t cook for them, sometimes they bring stuff, sometimes I cook, but the main point is we are in each other’s community, Bonin told Hoda.

We just want our children and my grandchildren to grow up together.

The women themselves have been meeting monthly for dinner for the past four years.

The group decided to wear wedding dresses for dinner after seeing similar videos on social media.

“I was like, ‘we have to do this’ and Alexis was like ‘let’s do it in public!'” said Hannah Joy.

Madeline agreed, saying “We felt like we shouldn’t just wear our dresses and sit at home. We should go out to dinner.”

Everyone approved. “I think we’re all a little wild and crazy when it comes to doing bold things,” explains Bonin.

Wearing a wedding dress at first did not feel comfortable.

“I knew my dress wouldn’t fit,” says Hannah Joy. “I’m five months postpartum (so) I’m a little unsure. Alexa (is) also just giving birth and we’re nervous.”

“I never expected to wear them again!” said Madeline. “I hate my wedding dress. I eloped so I took the first thing I found.”

Bonin misplaced her own wedding dress, so she improvised in Sydnie’s prom dress.

“It just worked,” Bonin said. “We were ready to go thrift shopping.” Kate wasn’t married so she bought thrift store dresses.

That day, the “bride” went out to dinner in a 15-passenger van.

“It’s like all the women in the clown cars in their wedding dresses!” recalled Sydney.

“It’s like all the women in the clown cars in their wedding dresses!”

At the restaurant, the group asks the valet employees to take their pictures while the admirers take their own.

Dinner was sentimental, mostly for Bonin.

“Seeing them in their clothes, I am flooded with so many memories and how much life has happened since their wedding day,” she said. “It’s real… they’re so beautiful. Who cares whether you match your clothes or not? We’re doing life. We’re having a baby! I think it had a lot more emotion for me than I expected.

“Each of them is unique and special and they support each other, and I like my daughters to be best friends,” added Bonin.

The women plan to re-create the night this time around, including an additional generation: Bonin’s moms.
