Hailey Bieber’s Pink Slip Dress was the Peak of 90’s Lingerie Fashion

While Hailey Bieber may have donned husband Justin Bieber’s boxer briefs earlier this month, she opted to go with her signature style this past weekend. For a date night in New York City, model and beauty founder Rhode chose a pink satin slip dress that was decidedly more lingerie-inspired than her recent underwear-as-outerwear experiment.

The 26-year-old gown from Ukrainian designer Anna October featured a retro bra-accented sweetheart neckline detailing the bodice. The cut follows a conventional silhouette, except for the back, which is cut just above the waist. Bieber decided to let the slip be the focal point of the ensemble, pairing it with a simple gold chain, dainty earrings and a black leather shoulder bag.

Down to the Saint Laurent slingbacks, the look is reminiscent of the 90s (think breezy shoes a la Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell). Of course, this isn’t the first time Bieber has referenced his oft-decade-appropriate minimal style, but he seems to really like the slip.

At last year’s Paris Fashion Week, Bieber’s halter-style dress cut just above the knee and was a similar champagne color to her recent date night pick. And while satin has become commonplace in models’ looks, it’s not the only fabric she’s made slips into.

She took the trend into sheer territory earlier this year in a lace-trimmed white dress which she accessorized with chunky sneakers, a nylon mini bag, and sheer sunglasses. It seems that, when Bieber likes a certain style, he wears it in almost every color and texture.

Although menswear-style bombers and neutral outfits have been a recent favorite of the Biebers, he seems to be sticking with more feminine options (at least for now). The Anna October dress was the second of a pair of similar looks she wore while out in New York City last week.

She celebrated the birthday of her skincare line, Rhode, in a high-fashion mini dress by Vivienne Westwood. And while her date night slip doesn’t feature hundreds of Swarovski crystals, clearly, she’s onto something Barbie-pink.
