Retro fashion showcased at the flower power show at Moose Jaw

History is on display at Moose Jaw in the form of a fashion show featuring women’s clothing from the 1960s and 1970s.

Fashion is one thing that is very individual and very unique, Kara Rasmussen, program management for the Western Development Museum, told CTV News.

People may have chosen an outfit or dress or suit for a special occasion. They may make it their own and they may choose something because it is their favorite color.

This year’s theme is florals. From gowns to nightwear, more than 30 of the museum’s collections are showcased during the catwalk.

We’ve got some pastels, we’ve got some really psychedelic colors. I think they’ll bring back some memories for a lot of people, and that’s a lot of fun, added Rasmussen.

As many as ten models took part in this year’s show, strutting the runway and having fun old-fashioned.

I feel very flattered, knowing that, because last year I wasn’t big enough and now I am, said Isabelle Pratt, one of the models.

I can keep doing it for years.

Many of the show’s guests said seeing the old wardrobe on stage took them back in time.

It was really cool to see all the different outfits from different decades, guest Ruby Baiton, told CTV News.

[The show] can teach people about what people should wear at the time, Pratt added. Also, so that new generations can see parts of history they have never seen before.

Rasmussen plans to put on three more shows this year, hoping to draw more attention to the fashion industry.
