Designer and AnOnlyChild founder Maxwell Osborne showed off his newest ready-to-wear capsule Friday during his brand debut Summer Studio Sessions block party, in partnership with Brooklyn-based full-service photo studio and production house Neighbors BK.
Osborne said the event, held at Neighbors BK’s Greenpoint studio, was originally planned as an open concept shoot (to allow guests to experience the creative process), but grew into an organic multi-brand “family affair” as seen through the cooking show. featuring food and drink by designer friends (matcha by Rocky’s Matcha; food by Thank You for Coming—an open-concept private dinner club founded by AnOnlyChild designer and chef Kristy Chen).
“The idea is to extend our reach to our guests and allow them to take part in the world of AnOnlyChild, connecting people from all walks of life through a festive atmosphere — a summer celebration at [New York]“a statement from the brand reads.

Along with live shots of Osborne’s newest capsule, the event featured pop-up shops from fashion and accessories brands Bobblehaus, Capicu, Krewe, and Savant Studios; live DJ sets by Lluvia, Dao-Yi Chow, Spliffington, Christian Martir, DJ Ultra Voilet, Rio Bamba and Sunny Cheeba; entertainment by Capicu! The Party (domino tournament), free tattoos by FunCity Tattoo, and more.
“Every shoot we do for every campaign is always done at home and about the house. This set references home while pulling references from a Calvin Klein commercial with a casting couch, that vibe,” Osborne said of the nostalgic living room set inspired by his 90s lookbook. Throughout the afternoon, the Osborne community is invited to watch models with their newest designs on set (lookbook styled by Marion B. Kelly and photographed by Max Papendieck, co-owner of Neighbors BK).
Osborne’s capsule denim serves as an extension of his brand’s ethos to “create something out of nothing”. The capsule is made entirely of deadstock denim sourced from Los Angeles; every piece is hand washed, locally colored, and reworked in Brooklyn, making each style one-of-a-kind. Unseasoned capsules will be released later this fall directly to consumers (as well as possibly with retail partners). The idea of introducing the capsule this summer is to demonstrate the brand’s ability to offer different shades and qualities of denim to the brand’s partners and customers.

With the capsule, Osborne wants to answer the question: “What is the new Americana, what is New York denim — what does that look like to us?”
“I wanted to take home this one-of-a-kind denim collection, playing with different washes and tiny silhouettes from bell bottoms to cropped jackets,” he says of the line. Highlights from the men’s and women’s capsules include a small bustier bralette top and tailored small-waisted shorts; casual denim boxers; men’s zip-up jackets; reworked utility jeans, and a bandana-shaped tote bag. The designer has also showcased his signature silhouettes – Antonio double pleats, a tailored deep V-neck top and wide leg trousers – in denim.
“We wanted to make it a reference for denim; I want to wear denim again,” says Osborne, who currently sells his needle punch luxe anOnlyChild denim styles (and additional seasonal silhouettes) to retail partners such as Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue.
