Peter Dundas is the only man who can pronounce the body hug jersey number with the cut on the back side hatched with gold chains as a T-shirt dress. But his signature glam has been called to the resort. That’s partly because Dundas has plans to show his spring 2022 collection at New York Fashion Week this September. Anticipating his label debut Big Apple, this collection has an attitude that Dundas describes as more American. It’s a cleaner, fresher and more functional kind of glamour, he said on a Zoom call. Adjusting to its customers changing post-pandemic reality is part of the story too.

Even Dundass’ celebrity clients are spending more time at home these days, and that’s reflected in the clothes that have been shaved off many of the usual frills. Dundas made the sheer, embroidered purple jumpsuit she wore to her first Oscars in April. Here, she embellished the neckline of an ivory caftan in a gold alligator print and added a perspex mirror to the shell suit; they’re not red carpet material and that’s the point. Dundas also included several oversized trouser suits cut to proportions that Cary Grant might recognize. This seemed like a real departure for her, until she pointed out that, like her T-shirt dress, it was also without a back.
