Daughters of late hip hop legend The Notorious BIG and Jam Master Jay come together to open a New York-style pizzeria in Los Angeles, California. As Eater reportedly, Tyanna Wallace and Tyra Myricks will open Juicy Pizza, named after the 1994 Biggies hit song.
The idea for a pizza place reportedly came to Myricks when he realized that there was no good pizza in Los Angeles. I realized LA doesn’t have great NY style pizza, so instead of endless hunting, I decided to make one! he wrote in an Instagram post back in February.
With a desire to bring a piece of New York to the West Coast, he contacted Wallace, who had been friends with him for some time, about the idea. The more I thought about how to bring that New York theme to Los Angeles, I felt, Who represents New York more than Biggie Smalls? Myricks explained to Business Insider. He also envisioned the new business would be a great opportunity for him and Wallace to make money together.
The menu for Juicy Pizza includes cheese and pepperoni pizza, oxtail, beef and broccoli, jerk chicken and chopped cheese rolls. In addition to New York-style pizza, the restaurant’s design pays homage to New York City with subway details and a bodega vibe, according to Eater.
Juicy Pizza is scheduled to open on Saturday (12 June) with dinner hours only. The restaurant will also sell merchandise designed by Myricks and will have a Black member-only marijuana room in the back.
The upcoming launch of Juicy Pizza will mark the start of another business for Wallace and Myricks, who both have fashion lines. Myricks is the proud owner of his fashion brand, Wealth, while Wallace sells men’s and women’s clothing at a Brooklyn store called Notoriouss, which is also named after his late father.
