No More Loneliness! is the title of a great and hopeful show for those lucky enough to see the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel. Canadian designer Joey Gollishs spring collection has a high sense of sense with its loose, effortless shapes, vibrant colors and an allure that drifts somewhere between beach parties and nightclubs.
Video of the show depicts models walking through abandoned structures engrossed in giant loudspeakers as day turns to night. All we want is a hooded shirt and psychosis of ecstasy, are lyrical snippets that speak of Gollish’s fascination with retro club culture, here a reference to the acid house boom of the 1990s, when Manchesters The Hacienda was ground zero for the scene.

There’s also a strong 80s feel to baggy jeans, demonstrative shirts, and slanted oversized knitwear. Gollish, who loves circles, used lemons as a substitute for smiling faces, winks at oranges that demonstrators used to neutralize tear gas during student protests in France in 1986 and 1987.
The rave wearable that feels uplifted, is how Gollish summed up his spring effort during the preview. The reason why I’m so focused on nightlife is because I think for a lot of people, going out is when you’re wearing whatever you want to wear, and being whoever you want to be and acting however you want. In a way, this is the truest version of yourself.
The video certainly captures the exhilarating feeling of heading into the big night, while the display book reveals the intricate patchwork and coloring techniques that give her outfit a nostalgic elan. Lead us to the raves, Mr. Saturdays!
