ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) -An Albany teenager is close to hitting $650 to achieve his dream of becoming a fashion journalist.
Last weekend, Dayla Fritts was one of three people to receive a $650 scholarship from the nonprofit One Albany.
Fritts says this will help with his college expenses as he prepares for Georgia State.
She said she was grateful for the opportunity One Albany gave her as she pursued a degree in fashion journalism.
To be honest, just having the chance to meet One Albany Incorporated was a great feeling as I have met them several times for different virtual college fairs but I never actually got the chance to meet them. So actually meeting them was awesome, Fritts said.
Fritts is a graduate of Dougherty County Comprehensive High School.
An Albany leader said their mission was to help as many children as possible.
Officials tell us they have been an organization for a year and recently partnered with the Doughty County School System.
Leaders tell us that they plan to award scholarships every year.
