Why is Playboy Demanding Fashion Nova?
Fans may not think of Playboy as a fashion authority, but it’s true they designed a pretty iconic look for the Playboy Bunnies. From the servers at the Playboy Club to the personal collection of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriend, all of the most famous Bunny wore the costume.
And that’s the problem with Playboy’s Fashion Nova.
In 2020, Playboy Enterprises, Inc. filed a lawsuit against the fashion brand for “violating the design of the world-famous Playboy BUNNY COSTUME”. The costumes are not only trademarked, but as as pers conference read at the time, “Playboy takes its brand seriously.”

Fashion Nova Seems To Be Banking On A Rabbit Resemblance
As Playboy noted in its press release, the company took action in court “based on Fashion Novas’ unauthorized marketing and sale of several versions of the iconic Playboys BUNNY COSTUME.”
Basically, Playboy is saying that Fashion Nova sells bunny costumes that are too similar to their original, trademarked uniforms. And judging by the purchases of some buyers, they may have a point.
Is Nova Fashion Responding to Playboy?
Playboy claimed in their 2020 press release that Fashion Nova received requests to stop selling costumes but ignored them. Currently, the website is still showing a list of bunny costumes, but that’s butTo dosays most sizes are currently out of stock.
While that might suggest they’ve given up on fighting the multimillion-dollar company, fans already know Fashion Nova isn’t the only place they can find bunny costumes that resemble Hugh’s original favorites.
