The weather wasn’t great, so Stphane Ashpool offered his audience an in-studio teaser rather than a full surround sound experience in the works. This film focuses on the skin care collection, with a varied palette of colors and textures. The all-white leather outfit kicked off the scene with a loose-fitting 80s-flavored jacket, shoulder seams pushed up towards the biceps, tied at the waist and paired with minimalist pocket-pants.
Projected onto a white, rolling pattern, driven by an easy jazz music marble motif, water, etched surface. Then comes the original texture, with a close-up shot of turquoise veins on a dark blue background or lime yellow dye applied to white skin. And lastly, a soft jacket garment in a blue patchwork color, each patch treated differently, and cargo pants with a camouflage effect, colored in orange or blue.

“It’s like working on a painting, we treat each skin differently,” said Ashpool, speaking on the phone, noting that he applies the patina by hand, paints the skin, lets it dry, adds more layers for a crackle effect, and uses an aerosol spray.
But leather isn’t the only ingredient. Ashpool collaborated with Dutch electric bicycle specialist Van Moof, and added another partnership, Danish speaker company Soundboks.
We work with paint on bicycles, sound systems, speakers and clothing panels for very large applications. Fun but a lot of work, he said.
The film’s speakers feature, in metallic blue, purple and chalk, serving as a backdrop as a man works a turntable on his lap. She dresses in a nine-nine style, Pigalle’s aesthetic really stands out in a cool collarless leather shirt on the front, and matching baggy pants.
Slick and sensual leather outfits, hot wheels and shiny speakers, what else is there to do? Visit the city, Amsterdam and London too, and the French countryside. The film closes with the message: Let the journey begin.
