Vera Wang Launches Party, Sparkling Wine for All Celebrations – The Hollywood Reporter

Two years ago, Vera Wang and her team started looking for ideas to add another category to her portfolio — a huge empire that includes fashion, bridal wear, eyewear, fragrances, bedding, stationery, tableware, jewelry, and men’s formal wear.

The designer specifically wanted the drink, something “light and fun” that could easily be married off to a wedding celebration, one of his most iconic endeavors. Now that COVID-19 restrictions are lifted across the country, he hopes what they’ve created can help encourage all kinds of gatherings, large, small (and even solo).

“Prosecco isn’t just about marriage, it’s about celebrating life,” the designer said at a recent virtual event for his debut. Party, a premium Italian prosecco in collaboration with the winemaker Araldica, led by Claudio Manera. “Small moments in life, everyday moments, or big events. It’s not just milestones or special occasions, it’s a lifetime.”

Wang, who says he likes a drink to unwind at the end of a long day, praised prosecco as “very popular” for its drinking ability and its usefulness as a mixer for a variety of cocktails. “It’s light, bubbly and there’s youth and modernity to it,” she explains, leaning on the same adjective to describe the quirky, sleek matte silver bottle with “Party” planted in the center in bold neon letters. “Prosecco was never sold in bottles made of metal. This is the first time, allowed by the Italian federation. We held our breath as it took so long to be accepted. I am very proud of that.”

Sold for $25, Vera Wang’s Party is made from “100 percent Glera grapes and offers aromas of apple and stone fruit, citrus and fresh acidity on the palate, with a soft, fruity finish,” according to the brand. About the bottle, Wang says that leaning on neon for letter details is in sync with her current vocabulary in fashion as she’s been using color schemes a lot these days.

Wang added that stamping and packaging bottles like this is similar to the process he went through with him fragrance collection, which includes Princess Noir, Vera Wang, Embrace, Princess, Be Jeweled, Forever Vera, and Lovestruck. His other footprint in the spirit sector came with a partnership with Chopin Vodka. “This is one of the happiest projects we have ever worked on,” he admits. “[Party] is something we all need right now — a little joy, a little happiness, and a little celebration.”
