Men in suits promote unity, brotherhood in Kinston

KINSTON, NC (WITN) – Men in Kinston gather for Men in Suits, marching to promote a more positive presence of black men in society.

Organizers say the national movement is being held in eastern North Carolina in hopes of portraying black men in a more positive light.

Do we have our social ills? To be sure, says Lamont Voice Cox. But what about those times where we get together, Lincoln City Reunion? When do we usually get together for Clash of the 90s every thanksgiving? No drama.

The group marched through downtown Kinston and ended up at the Kinston music park where several speakers shared words of motivation.

Our power is far more powerful than any organization has ever had, said Kinston Mayor Don Hardy. So here today show the support of our African American brothers across not only Kinston, but across the country.

Local churches participated by building floats for the parade, and organizers hoped for more events in the community in partnership with city officials.
