Zoe Saldaa hasn’t taken off her sweatpants yet.
During the pandemic, I’ve definitely become more relaxed in my everyday clothes when my family and I are at home, the 43-year-old actress and producer told Bustle. Leggings, T-shirts, and sneakers make many, many looks. We’ve all gotten used to being comfortable on a regular basis, I honestly think this is all here to stay.
Plus, as a mother of three boys under the age of six, Saldaa finds that exercise eases the transition from playground to dinner.
Since both active wear and casual wear are permanent fixtures in her wardrobe, it’s only natural that she designs some of her outfits that are fashionable yet functional. She’s teamed up with Adidas to realize her vision of everyday wear: Think abstract print leggings, graphics, and a cool blue zippered tracksuit jacket for fall.
This collaboration really combines everything I hoped for, says Saldaa of the collection, which launches July 16 on Kohls. My goal is that the line is not only accessible to all women, but also makes them feel comfortable, confident and beautiful.
Saldaa says she loves the creative process from start to finish and enjoys working with mood boards and different color palettes to capture the essence of the collection, which is all about looking good while multitasking on the go.
I remember going from business meetings to the park with my kids, she says. And on walks with my little ones, I remember thinking, Yes, this is why moms need versatile items! We don’t have time to switch between work and motherhood.
Here, Saldaa opens up about her favorite active wear trends, her look at the gym, and her tips for getting ready to walk the red carpet.
Which sportswear trend are you wearing the most right now? On the other hand, which trend do you dislike?
I really like high-waisted tights. Whether I’m on set, traveling, or at home with my family, they’re always a choice because they’re versatile and convenient. Active wear is perfect for my busy days and can also be quite slim, so I have no complaints. There is no sports trend that I don’t like.
What are you looking for to hit the gym in style?
Definitely involve sweatpants, Puremotion sneakers, and a long-sleeved top. I like [outfit] because it’s convenient, easy, and allows a pop of color.

How would you describe your current personal style?
I enjoy the bright colors, flowing silhouettes, and bold prints. In the new collection, I especially like the bold colors and prints on tights, capris, and sweatshirts. It felt like I was wearing a work of art.
Do you have any hacks for a red carpet emergency and avoiding a wardrobe crash?
I always try to be as prepared as possible before going on the red carpet by testing my clothes and asking all the questions, can I walk here? Am I feeling the best? Does everything match correctly? If it can pass this test, I try to fully embrace the view and work on it!
What are your predictions for the red carpet fashion ahead?
Red carpet fashion will see people take a lot of risks with fun and refreshing looks. After spending a lot of time inside, as much as active wear has become a staple, there’s still something exciting about dressing up and expressing yourself through fashion. Many people have even redefined their personal style during their free time, as well as treats during awards season and beyond.
Have you ever worn active clothes on the red carpet?
Everyone should wear what they feel is best [in], not just on the red carpet but every day. I love to express myself and try out new looks so yeah, I thought I would! I love styling sneakers with dresses, wearing active dresses, and I like to pair a sports jacket styled on the red carpet.
