COVID-19 public health recommendations for fully vaccinated people

[ad_1]

On April 2, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated Interim public health recommendations for fully vaccinated people and on April 27, 2021, the CDC updated Choose safer activities. The CRPD supports these updated guidance documents, and the recommendations are summarized below. This directive does not apply to healthcare establishments.

Overview

Vaccines currently licensed in the United States are very effective in protecting people vaccinated against symptomatic and severe COVID-19, and a growing body of evidence suggests that fully vaccinated people are less likely to have asymptomatic infection and potentially less likely to spread SARS-CoV-2 to others. The duration of vaccine protection and the degree of vaccine protection against emerging variants of SARS-CoV-2 are still under study. Until more is known and immunization coverage increases, preventive measures will continue to be necessary for everyone, regardless of immunization status.

Who is considered a fully immunized person?

For the purposes of this guide, people are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19: two weeks or more after receiving the second dose in a series of 2 doses (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or two weeks or more after have received a single dose vaccine (Johnson and Johnson [J&J]/ Janssen).[1]

Key points

Completely vaccinated people may[1]:

  • Spend time with other fully vaccinated people, including indoors, without wearing masks or physical distancing (outside of a workplace).

  • Spend time with unvaccinated people in the same household who are at low risk of serious COVID-19 illness indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing.

  • Avoid wearing face coverings outdoors except when attending crowded outdoor events, such as shows, parades, fairs, festivals, sporting events, or other similar settings.

  • Refrain from quarantine and testing after known exposure if asymptomatic [2].

For now, people who are fully vaccinated should continue to:

  • Take precautions in public, including wearing a properly fitted mask indoors and when attending crowded outdoor events, as described above.

  • Get tested if you have symptoms of COVID-19.

  • If fully vaccinated individuals test positive for SARS-CoV-2, they should follow CDPH and local health department guidelines regarding isolation and / or exclusion from high-risk settings.

  • To pursue CDC, local and state health service travel requirements and recommendations.

Refer to Addendum to the Table of Activities and Activity Levels of the Master Plan – Individuals and Sections Tested and Fully Vaccinated for more industry and site information regarding designated sections of individuals tested negative and fully vaccinated.

These recommendations apply to people who are fully vaccinated, and there is currently no time limit for these recommendations after people are fully vaccinated.

These guidelines apply to COVID-19 vaccines currently authorized for use:

CE N-84-20 (PDF) provides that California Department of Public Health recommendations for worker quarantine are incorporated and supersede Cal / OSHA text Temporary emergency standards for the prevention of COVID-19 . These guidelines do not affect the employers’ obligation to comply with other provisions of the Temporary Emergency Standards.
