the OC Healthcare Agency have reported 1,351 new cases of coronavirus since Friday, bringing the cumulative total in the county to 262,071 cases since follow-up began.
In the past 14 days, 3,893 new infections have been reported.
There were 194 people with confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Orange County hospitals on Monday, July 26, of whom 48 were expected to be in an intensive care unit.
The county update says 4,285,226 tests have been done for the coronavirus since testing began locally, with at least 20,487 new tests administered over the weekend since the previous report.
A new death has been reported since Friday, bringing the number of people who have died from the virus to 5,139.
Data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or collected during case investigations and can take weeks to process. The most recent death on record was on July 9.
Of the 5,139 reported deaths from the virus, 1,141 were qualified residents of nursing homes, 610 were in assisted living facilities, two were OC prison inmates, and 14 were listed as homeless .
An estimated 251,082 people recovered from the virus on Monday. The number of people who have recovered is based on the cumulative number of cases from the previous 28 days.
The data released each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials point out. Further information may become available as investigations into individual cases are completed.
