A new COVID-19 vaccination clinic delivering Pfizer vaccine to local youth will open at the Panthers Leagues Club.
Reservations will open at 9 a.m. today and the clinic will begin delivering vaccines from Monday.
NSW Health says anyone between the ages of 16 and 39 living in the local government area of Penrith is eligible to book.
This includes suburbs within the LGA but not listed as “suburbs of concern”.
“We know that there are several hundred thousand people in these LGAs who are not vaccinated in this age group, and this is a great opportunity for them to come forward and get their vaccine,” he said. NSW Assistant Health Secretary Susan Pearce said.
Increasing the number of people vaccinated, even with their first dose, not only protects people from serious illness and death, but also reduces the likelihood that a person will contract and spread the virus.
Clinical evidence shows a significant reduction in the transmission of COVID-19 after vaccination. The likelihood of transmission at home was reduced by about 50 percent three to four weeks after vaccination.
Vaccination against COVID-19 gives you approximately 90% protection against hospitalization and death from COVID-19 if you are infected.
“We are doing everything we can to get doses in the guns and I want to thank our local health districts for their gigantic efforts,” Ms. Pearce said.
