Legionnaires’ disease cluster in Harlem

NEW YORK – The city health department is looking for the source of a community cluster of Legionnaires’ disease in and around central Harlem.

Nine people have been diagnosed with the disease since last week and all have been taken to hospital.

Armyworms are caused by inhaling water vapor that contains bacteria.

It is not contagious and it is treatable when detected early.

The water for all cooling towers in the cluster area is currently being tested.

The DOH is organizing a virtual community meeting on illness Thursday at 6 p.m.
