City of Ottawa explained how and when the third vaccine doses will work for eligible groups.
A press release issued on Wednesday said people outside of nursing homes, who need a third dose for health reasons, can request a letter from their medical team.
They can then take this letter to any clinic in town if two months have passed since their second dose and they will receive the same brand of vaccine as their second injection.
Long-term care people and some “higher risk” nursing homes will be offered third doses at least five months after their second dose.
Province announced a plan for COVID-19 boosters last week as part of its enhanced response to Wave Four, and those details would come from individual health units.
Health units for Renfrew County and Tthe Brockville area also explained to residents how they would administer the third doses.
The World Health Organization asked governments to wait to administer the third dose until the end of September so that other countries have the opportunity to vaccinate their residents who have not yet received a first or second dose.
