How many cases of COVID-19 are there in Waterloo region?

The 26 august dashboard report Waterloo Region Public Health Shows 151 active cases of the virus, with a total of 18,407 cases resolved.

There was 25 new positive virus cases reported for a total of 18,849 positive cases of COVID-19 in the region, ten of which are currently hospitalized. Among the cases currently hospitalized in the region for the virus, 7 entered an intensive care unit.

There are 4,992 case of a variant identified in the region of Waterloo, with 3 126 Alpha cases (first detected in UK), 21 Beta case (first detected in South Africa), 1,485 Delta case (first detected in India) and 98 Gamma case (first detected in Brazil).

There was a total of 564 168 COVID-19 tests administered (updated Tuesday and Friday).

288 deaths have been reported among people who test positive for the virus.

Outbreaks ended in a family day care center (2 cases), a safe workplace (2 cases) and Rising Oaks Early Learning (2 cases).

Transmission of the virus is highest in the region in close contact cases, where 8,781 have been reported.

In the rest of the cases, 5 692 were acquired through community transmission, 3 965 the cases were acquired by epidemic, 387 the cases contracted COVID-19 while traveling.

The highest number of cases in Waterloo region are among adults in their twenties with 4,628. Thirties represent 3 132 of cases, while those in their 40s represent 2,524 cases from the region. 1,073 children under the age of nine have tested positive, and 1,986 between 10 and 19 years old.

Just over six percent of cases to date, 1,049 in total, are among health workers.

The region does not report the age, sex, route of transmission and testing site of individual cases, as well as negative tests.
