Ohio judge ordered hospital on Monday to treat COVID-19 patient with ivermectin – an unproven viral treatment and dewormer for cattle – going against CDC and FDA recommendations .
Jeffrey Smith, 51, contracted the coronavirus in early July and has been in the ventilated intensive care unit at West Chester Hospital in Cincinnati for weeks, according to the Ohio Capital Journal. His wife, Julie Smith, filed a complaint against the hospital on August 20 for seeking an emergency order for the use of animal drugs in a Butler County court in a last ditch effort to keep her husband alive as he suffers “on the brink of death. dead”.
On August 23, Butler County Judge Gregory Howard ordered that Dr. Fred Wagshul’s prescription of 30 milligrams of ivermectin per day for three weeks be fulfilled, as requested by his wife and legal guardian.
Ivermectin is approved for humans and animals, but animal drugs are concentrated at levels that can be highly toxic to humans. FDA has no data to prove ivermectin use as a COVID treatment, and has warned Americans they are not cattle amid an increase in poison calls of people suffering from side effects.
Smith was admitted to hospital on July 15, where he was transferred to intensive care and treated with the hospital’s COVID-19 protocol, which included plasma, steroids, and doses of the antiviral drug Remdesivir, according to court documents.
On July 27, “after a period of relative stability, Jeffrey’s condition began to decline,” the lawsuit says, and Jeffrey became unstable as his oxygen level declined. His condition “continued to decline” and he was sedated, intubated and placed on a ventilator on August 1.
Several subsequent serious infections left Smith with a roughly 30% chance of survival on August 20, when he remained on a ventilator in a medical coma.
“At his point, the defendant [hospital] has exhausted her COVID-19 treatment and protocol to treat Jeffrey, which is unacceptable to Ms. Smith, ”the lawsuit says.
“Jeffrey has been on a ventilator for 19 days,” the complaint continues, “he’s on the verge of death; there is no other COVID-19 treatment protocol the Respondent can offer Jeffrey; Mrs. Smith doesn’t want to see her husband die, and she does everything she can to give him a chance.
The trial did not mention whether Jeffrey Smith had been vaccinated or not, but of the 21,000 hospitalizations related to COVID-19 since January 1, only 500 patients have been vaccinated, the Capital Journal reported.
The Smiths have been married for 24 years and have three children, documents show. Jeffrey is an engineer at Verizon.
Julie Smith took it upon herself to contact Dr Wagshul, one of the main supporters of Ivermectin in Dayton and founder of Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, who wrote the prescription for the drug. However, the hospital refused to administer it to her husband.
Wagshul told the Ohio Capital Journal that there was “compelling” evidence supporting the efficacy of ivermectin against COVID-19, and alleged a “conspiracy” to block its use by the CDC and the FDA to continue its authorization of available coronavirus vaccines
“If we were a country watching another country allowing these (COVID-19) deaths on a daily basis… we would have been screaming, ‘Genocide!’ He told the newspaper.
Dr. Leanne Chrisman-Khawam, a physician and professor at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, called the FLCCCA “sellers of snake oil,” according to the Capital Journal. She cited several issues in the group’s published research.
“Based on the evidence-based medicine and my reading of this large number of small studies, I would find this very suspect, even the positive results,” she told the Ohio Capital Journal.
An update on Smith’s new treatment was not disclosed by the hospital or Wagshul due to privacy laws, the newspaper reported.
