The city of Toronto continues its efforts to encourage more city residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19, hosting more than two dozen clinics this weekend.
A week-long pop-up clinic opens at Union Station on Monday, offering the first and second doses from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to a city statement.
A TTC bus vaccination clinic will also be open Monday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Rexdale Library.
The city continues to target areas with low vaccination rates, where residents are at high risk of contracting the disease, or both. A complete list of clinics is accessible here.
“Please get vaccinated,” pleaded Mayor John Tory in a city statement.
“You will help us protect our progress and end this pandemic,” he said.
Between August 30 and September 9 – following Ontario’s announcement that it would begin implementing a vaccine passport system – the city of Toronto said it saw a 30% increase in the number of first doses of vaccination.
Two doses are considered optimal protection, with vaccinated individuals being seven times less likely to be infected than their unvaccinated peers.
Municipal clinics are currently open at Cloverdale Mall, Metro Toronto Convention Center and Scarborough Town Center.
