The world’s largest cancer blood test has started in the UK, which could dramatically increase survival rates.
The Galleri test can be used to detect more than 50 types of the disease before symptoms appear by looking for DNA of cancer cells in a patient’s blood.
It is hoped that this will help identify cancers at an earlier stage, when the chances of survival are much higher.
The British National Health Service is trying to recruit 140,000 volunteers, half of them for an immediate blood test.
