The Alzheimer’s Association is organizing a fundraiser to raise the profits of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s disease

WACO, Texas – The North Central Texas chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association hosted a dog washing fundraising event Saturday at Pet Supplies Plus to help raise funds for a disease that affects approximately 400,000 people in Texas.

The dog wash took place on Hewitt Drive from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm Dogs of all sizes were washed with the option of free nail clipping.

Funds from the fundraiser will go to their Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease which will take place in Brazos East Park next month.

Alzheimer’s disease and dementia not only affect people living with the disease, but over a million people who care for it.

The Ahead March not only aims to fund a revolutionary cure for this disease, but also to help caregivers receive the resources and support they need.

The Waco Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease met its goal of raising over $ 119,000, but is welcoming more walkers to build teams and join the fight.

The event will implement safety protocols including physical distancing, contactless check-in and hand sanitizing stations.

Organizers are calling for all walk participants to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or wear a mask when in a crowded area. If you are not comfortable attending the event, you can take a walk in your neighborhood or in your favorite park.
