Young women aged 18-25 encouraged to get to know their bodies as part of campaign to elevate sensitization of breast cancer.

CoppaFeel Breast Cancer Awareness Charity! said young people often don’t realize they’re at risk for breast cancer, even though early diagnosis can save lives.

The association’s Know Yourself campaign follows singer Girls Aloud Sarah harding died of breast cancer just 39 years earlier this month.

Breast cancer is much more common in older women, but around 5,000 women under 45 are diagnosed with it each year in the UK.

It is also the second most frequently diagnosed cancer in women under 30 in the UK, with 181 new cases each year and around 12 deaths.

But young women aged 18 to 24 are less likely to regularly check their breasts than those aged 25 to 35. Coppafeel data! shows that only 36 percent of women aged 18 to 35 check their breasts every month.

Lucy Lepe – who appears in the campaign’s television commercial – was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 27.

She said: “As a youngster, I didn’t know much about breast cancer, only what I had seen on television, which rarely featured young people or black people.

“I certainly didn’t know I could be affected at my age. I got involved in the campaign in hopes of changing that narrative, raising awareness and helping more young people understand that breast cancer can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or age. Ethnicity.

Signs of breast cancer include a lump or thickened area, swelling or lump in the armpit, a change in the appearance of the nipple, and new folds or dimples.

CoppaFeel! launch a television ad, radio campaign and other advertisements to publicize the campaign.

Sinead Molloy, Marketing Manager at CoppaFeel !, said: “A lot of people think breast cancer affects older women, but CoppaFeel! exists to change that perception, showing that breast cancer can affect any youngster.

“We hope viewers get the message across that breast cancer is also a relevant issue for young lives and, above all, that they understand that no one knows their body better than they do. “
