LATEST COVID-19:
One person has tested positive for Covid-19 after presenting to the emergency department at Waitakere Hospital yesterday.
Waitematā DHB said the patient was properly broadcast on arrival and placed in a separate area for patients with symptoms of Covid-19.
“The patients in this area are separated from each other. Following a positive Covid-19 test, the patient was transferred to a negative pressure room and has since been referred to MIQ. “
A DHB spokesperson said a small number of patients had also been appropriately referred to the same area and these patients will be monitored and tested, but there has been no direct contact with any other patients.
“A small number of staff have been in contact with the patient, all were wearing full PPE and are fully vaccinated. Due to the correct use of PPE and the infection and prevention and control protocols, the risk to the staff is considered weak. “
They said the Auckland Regional Public Health Service had informed DHB that the risk of overall exposure was low.
