SA Health provides update on new COVID cases and Adelaide exposure sites including Drake’s Supermarket

South Australia is on edge again after another local case of COVID was recorded in a truck driver who crossed the border from NSW on Thursday evening.

The driver was tested in Yamba on his way to the state at around 9 p.m., before a positive test was returned later on Friday.

He lives in a shared flat and his roommates have been transferred to a medi-hotel while they are also being tested.

Chief public health officer Nicola Spurrier said the driver was in the “early stages” of his infection and was partially vaccinated.

SA Health publishes a number of “casual contact” exposure sites including gas stations and a man-visited supermarket.

Anyone who was at the following “level 3” sites must take a COVID test and quarantine themselves until they test negative. You must get tested again on day 5 and on day 13 after the last day you were there:

• Caltex Yamba Thursday October 7 from 9 p.m. to 9.45 p.m.
• BP Blanchetown Truck stop and toilets Thursday, October 7 from 11:15 p.m. to midnight
• Salisbury North Star Laundromat Friday October 8 from 8.45 a.m. to 9.45 a.m.
• Salisbury North Drakes Supermarket Friday October 8 from 9 a.m. to 9.45 a.m.

There is also a convenience store listed as a “Tier 4” site.

Anyone who was at Elisabeth Friday, October 8 between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. or 9.45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. should watch for symptoms.

Spurrier said the movement of freight in and out of the state remains an important service.

“The freight industry has worked closely with us to try to reduce public exposure,” she said.

“But the people who live in our state need to be able to lead their lives. “

Restrictions lifted

The tougher COVID restrictions in South Africa had just been lifted earlier on Friday.

The state’s transition committee agreed to remove measures imposed earlier this week, which also reduced the size of the travel bubble for cross-border communities.

After being reduced to 30 kilometers on either side of the border, it was restored to the previous level of 70 kilometers.

However, Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said the new arrangements would exclude the city of Portland in Victoria, where there has been evidence of COVID-19 in sewage testing.

Stricter measures for Mount Gambier and surrounding districts were imposed when a local woman tested positive for the virus this week after spending time in Victoria.

She was transferred to Adelaide with her four children, who all tested negative.

Stevens said all close and casual contacts of the woman who were placed in quarantine had also tested negative.

“These are all very positive signs. There is no evidence of COVID-19 in wastewater testing for the affected areas, ”he told reporters on Friday.
