BALTIMORE (WJZ) – The Maryland State Department of Health reported more than 1,200 new cases of coronavirus and 20 new deaths on Saturday.
But the positivity rate has dropped to 3.7% and more Marylanders are choosing to be vaccinated.
The virus continues to be of serious concern to Maryland health officials. The state reports more than 1,000 new cases every day.
And for anyone who is not vaccinated, the risk of hospitalization and death is always higher.
That is why they continue to organize these vaccination clinics to protect everyone.
The pressure to get Marylanders vaccinated against COVID-19 is not abating.
“We want to make sure we’re doing our part to bring down COVID-19,” said Paul Finley, AIM president for Greater Maryland’s First Jurisdiction, Auxiliaries and Ministries.
The Church of God in Christ of Great Emmanuel Ministries held a walk-in immunization clinic with the Maryland Department of Health on Saturday.
About 50 percent of this community received at least one vaccine injection.
But church leaders want to try to protect more people.
“I know there is some controversy over whether people want to be vaccinated or not. But we want to tell you that science has proven this to be a safe business, ”Finley said.
Statewide, more than 64% of the population is fully immunized.
In Baltimore, the level of COVID transmission remains high. And the need to vaccinate more people remains important.
“We can help each other by getting vaccinated,” Finley said.
Covid-19 vaccines remain available 7 days a week in Baltimore and Maryland.
The two city and health department have a list of vaccination clinics posted online so that anyone will know how to get vaccinated.
