EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) – On Friday, El Paso County Public Health launched a new influenza data dashboard to track timely and relevant local influenza data.
According to the EPCPH, the interactive dashboard will provide weekly updates on fly hospitalizations and pediatric deaths throughout the 2021-2022 influenza season. These data will then be compared to previous influenza seasons.
“We are thrilled to offer this new resource to the public and our community partners,” said Natalia Gayou, El Paso County Public Health Epidemiologist. “In addition to COVID-19, tracking respiratory illnesses like influenza is essential to effectively monitor and identify disease trends in the community. It is important to note that influenza-related hospitalizations and pediatric deaths only capture a snapshot of disease activity representing the most serious illness. We know the flu is circulating and it is important to take steps to protect yourself and your loved ones. Although the flu season is different every year, with an unprecedented start to the RSV season, we predict an increase in respiratory illnesses this season. We urge anyone 6 months and older to get the flu shot. ”
The flu dashboard will be updated weekly on Monday. Click here to view the Influenza Data Dashboard.
