Toronto Public Health Launches Online Booking System for Appointment-Only Flu Clinics – City of Toronto

Today, Toronto Public Health (TPH) launched the annual online flu shot booking system to help residents schedule appointments for the annual TPH flu shot clinics. The TPH influenza vaccination clinics will be offered at the five mass vaccination clinics in the city of Toronto and will only be available by appointment.

TPH flu vaccination clinics will be offered from this week through the end of December. Anyone in Toronto who wants to get the flu shot will also be able to get the flu shot at participating doctors’ offices or pharmacies.

Annual flu shots are important to protect vulnerable residents from more serious illness. This includes the elderly, people with chronic and pre-existing health conditions, residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities, children six months to five years old, and pregnant women.

The flu, also known as the flu, can spread to others even before symptoms appear. Influenza is spread from person to person through small droplets produced by coughing or sneezing or by contact with contaminated hands, surfaces or objects, similar to COVID-19. Typical flu symptoms include high fever, chills, sore throat, cough, and muscle pain. Other common symptoms include headaches, loss of appetite, and feeling tired. Flu symptoms can be difficult to distinguish from symptoms of COVID-19 without testing.

Recovering from the flu usually takes a week to 10 days, but for some people it can worsen pre-existing health problems such as asthma or heart disease or turn into more serious health problems such as pneumonia and, in rare circumstances, can be fatal.

The flu shot is free for people six months and older who live, work or attend school in Ontario. A health card is not required at a TPH clinic. Flu clinic appointments can be booked in line
