Qatar and the World Health Organization hold their first strategic discussion

A.D. On November 15, 2021, the State of Qatar and the World Health Organization (WHO) held their first strategic meeting on the basis of their strong partnership and commitment to work together to address global health issues. The overall purpose of the meeting was to create a forum for regular discussions with WHO leadership and technical experts on WHO programs and policies. The event provided an opportunity to assess key areas of support in Qatar and explore new areas of cooperation, including the impact of CV-19, emergency response and preparedness, science and innovation, neglected tropical diseases, health and migration.

“The Qatari government is an important partner and supporter of the WHO’s mission and programs,” said Dr. Tewodros Adhanom Gebre-Jesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization. “I thank the State of Qatar for its commitment to global health and for its generous financial support to WHO, which is crucial to our mission to promote health, protect the world, and serve the most vulnerable,” he said.

His Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al-Kwari, Minister of Public Health, said: 19, and to contribute to humanitarian responses in emergencies as well as to new partnerships in sports and health.

“We want to strengthen the partnership between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the State of Qatar in order to build effective capacity and provide essential health services,” said Khalifa al-Kwari, director general of the Qatar Development Fund.

The strategic dialogue follows a number of improved collaborations and developments between Qatar and the WHO partnership. This includes the signing of a multi-year agreement on health and safety promotion, which began before the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
