Prince Edward Island reports four new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

PEI’s chief public health officer Dr. Heather Morrison says the cases involve one in their 50s, one in their 30s and two in their twenties.

One case is close contact of a previously reported case, two cases are linked to a cluster in Prince County and the other case is linked to travel out of the province.

Public health on the island says the four are self-isolating and contact tracing is ongoing.

Prince Edward Island has reported 15 new cases of COVID-19 in the past four days, including a cluster of 11 cases linked to Prince County, which includes outbreaks in two workplaces. Workplaces do not provide services to the public and are not considered public exhibition sites.

Morrison says the situation is handled with contact tracing, testing and isolation of close contacts.

“We remind all Islanders of the importance of not letting our guard down. Now is not the time to be complacent, ”Morrison said. “It is always extremely important that we all continue to adhere to public health measures such as staying at home in case of illness, wearing a mask in indoor public places, get tested even with mild symptoms, and wash your hands regularly.

Prince Edward Island currently has 16 active cases of COVID-19 and 343 positive cases since the start of the pandemic.

POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO COVID-19

Prince Edward Island health officials also announced three potential sites of exposure to COVID-19 on Saturday.

Anyone who has visited any of the following locations by the specified date and time and who is not fully immunized should visit a walk-in testing clinic to test and watch for symptoms for 14 days from the date of exhibition. If symptoms appear, individuals should be retested.

Anyone who has been at these locations during these times and is fully vaccinated should watch for symptoms for 14 days from the date of exposure and if symptoms appear, they should go to a walk-in testing clinic. .
