British vegan who turned down COVID jab died from virus after asking for vaccine

An animal lover who refused to be vaccinated against COVID because he was not a vegan died from the virus, telling his wife he wished he had the vaccine.

Glynn Steel, 54, from Worcestershire in the UK, refused the vaccine in a stance against animal testing.

But before he died on November 16, he told his wife Emma: “I have never felt so bad, I wish I had the vaccine. The sun reports.

Steel had battled the virus for two weeks in intensive care before losing the battle.

His devastated wife, who is fully vaccinated, is now urging people to get vaccinated against COVID, saying she now faces “an empty future on her own”.

“I urge everyone I know to get vaccinated,” she said, calling her husband’s death “heartbreaking”.

“He begged for the vaccine when he was in intensive care before going to intensive care, but they said it was too late,” she said.

“He was a very sweet soul, he was a vegan and didn’t want the COVID vaccine because it was tested on animals.”

Mr. Steel planned to retire and spend time looking after his animals and traveling more.

But on October 27, he tested positive for the coronavirus, after initially thinking he had just had a cold.

He quickly worsened and was taken to the Royal Worcestershire Hospital on November 2.

On November 10, he was on life support and in an induced coma, dying 20 minutes after his life support was stopped on November 16.

“I was with him when he died,” his wife said.

“I was wearing a full PPE kit so I couldn’t touch him, but they played his favorite Sex Pistols music and I stayed with him until the end.”

A GoFundMe page launched to help pay for his funeral expenses said Mr. Steel would be missed and loved forever.

“On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, we heartbreakingly lost our husband, uncle, son, brother and brother-in-law, Glynn, to the terrible virus that is COVID-19,” wrote his niece Charlotte.

“After falling ill very quickly, Glynn was placed in intensive care and then in a medically induced coma.

“In barely a week, he escaped.
