A mom said her son contracted hypothermia after his school forced him to self-isolate in a shed and eat outside because he had a cold.

Chloe Wilby said her six-year-old son Mason was kept away from other students and teachers in an “outdoor shed” after sending him to school with a mild cold.

She claims that after visiting Center Parcs, she and her son developed a mild cold – and Mason had a small cough and a snotty nose.

But Wigton Infant School put the schoolboy in isolation due to his Covid protocol.

The mom came to pick up Mason after receiving a call from school – but she was horrified to find that her son was sitting in an “outside shed”.

She said her son was “shivering like crazy” and then had to call an ambulance because he was suffering from hypothermia.

It was confirmed that the room did not have heating.

Chloe told the News and star: “He couldn’t speak, shivering like crazy, hands raw red, I had to stick them on my top to warm myself, eyes watery like crazy, snotty nose on my face.

“They even made him eat his lunch outside, no toys, no games, nothing.”

After a visit to a doctor, she was told to call an ambulance as her six-year-old had developed hypothermia.

In response, Geoff Norman, Principal of Wigton Infant School, said: “The priority for everyone at Wigton Infant School has always been the well-being of children, which more than ever includes reducing the risk of infection in the school and in the care of children. who are sick at school.

“This includes moving children who show symptoms of Covid-19 to a separate area with a staff member until they can be picked up by a parent or caregiver.

“For several months we have been using our outdoor classroom for this purpose and it has worked well.
