Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene was mocked after she criticized COVID-19 restrictions and said “not a single school has closed” because of cancer.
“Each year, more than 600,000 people die of cancer in the United States. The country has never closed its doors. No schools have closed. And each year, more than 600,000 people, of all ages and of all races will continue to die of cancer, ”Greene wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

“Since tracking # COVID19 began, more than 780,000 people have died in 22 months in the United States, but over a million have still died of cancer,” she said.
Several famous Twitter users responded by mocking the MP for making the comparison, as it apparently implied the cancer was contagious.

“Cancer is not contagious, model,” replied actor and comedian Ken Jeong.
Star Trek actor George Takei wrote, “Tell me you’re really stupid without saying you’re really stupid.”
“I had cancer once. Do you know how many people I have transmitted it to? Zero. Because cancer is not contagious,” said author Zack Hunt.
Georgia congresswoman is fierce critic of COVID-19 measures, which she has controversial compared to the Holocaust in the past.
In his Saturday tweets, Greene also claimed that COVID-19 restrictions, including masks and vaccines, do not stop the spread of the virus and are a form of “government control.”
She also expressed support for ivermectin, an antiparasitic drug often used on animals, as a treatment for the virus.
The Food and Drug Administration has warned the Americans against taking the drug, which they say can be “highly toxic” to humans if taken in large doses.
Greene also claimed that COVID-19 primarily targets ”
obese
and the elderly “and that the government should focus on this problem.
“To care about others and save lives, our response to # COVID19 should be aimed at ending obesity, promoting proven COVID treatments and stopping politically motivated mass hysteria,” she wrote.
His claims contradict research which shows vaccines to be very effective in reducing the spread and severity of COVID-19 cases.
Studies have found that vaccines are over 90% effective in preventing hospitalization, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said that unvaccinated people are about twice as likely to be hospitalized with the virus as those vaccinated.
Last week Greene confirmed News week that she has not had a vaccine against COVID-19.
