Coronavirus in Oregon: 909 new cases, 19 deaths

The Oregon Health Authority on Thursday reported 909 new known cases of COVID-19[female[feminineand 19 deaths.

The state also released a new vaccine breakthrough report showing that 70 percent of the 4,983 COVID-19 cases reported between December 5 and 11 were in people who were not or not fully vaccinated. The remaining 30 percent were among fully vaccinated individuals, roughly in line with the share of breakthrough infections in recent weeks.

The average age of breakthrough cases during this period was 44 years. To date, there have been 49,250 breakthrough cases of the COVID-19 vaccine in Oregon. The average age is 47 and such cases have been reported in all 36 counties.

To date, 4.4% of all vaccine breakthrough cases have been hospitalized and 1.3% have died. The average age of those vaccinated who died was 81 years old.

Where new cases are by county: Baker (3), Benton (15), Clackamas (88), Clatsop (17), Columbia (11), Coos (29), Crook (5), Curry (4), Deschutes (60), Douglas (25), Hood River (3), Jackson (67), Jefferson (9), Joséphine (25), Klamath (10), Lake (1), Lane (65), Lincoln (16), Linn (36), Malheur (2) , Marion (76), Morrow (3), Multnomah (133), Polk (28), Tillamook (10), Umatilla (14), Union (1), Wallowa (1), Wasco (5), Washington (121) and Yamhill (26).

Death: The state did not immediately report details of the 19 new deaths.

Hospitalizations: 389 people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 are hospitalized, up nine from Wednesday. That number includes 96 people in intensive care units, two more than Wednesday.

Vaccines: The state reported that 4,223 people had received the first shots since Tuesday.

From the beginning : Oregon has reported 404,229 confirmed or suspected infections and 5,527 deaths, among the lowest per capita numbers in the country. To date, the State reported 6,474,685 doses of vaccine administered, fully immunizing 2,735,236 people and partially immunizing 271,589 people.
