Hundreds more COVID-19 cases reported in Middlesex-London

The Middlesex-London health unit is reporting 307 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday and no new deaths.

There are currently 4,134 active cases reported, 22,099 total registered cases and 17,706 resolved cases since the start of the pandemic.

As of Wednesday, London had the most reported cases of the virus with 3,575. Strathroy-Caradoc has 209, the Middlesex Center has 13 and the Thames Center has 99.

Across the region, the majority of reported cases (6,366) are in people aged 40 to 64. People aged 25 to 39 and 18 to 24 are the highest groups, respectively.

The London Health Sciences Center is currently caring for 63 hospitalized patients with COVID-19, 10 of whom are in intensive care for adults.

Five or fewer patients with COVID-19 are hospitalized at the children’s hospital and no patient is in pediatric intensive care.

The LHSC also reports that 261 staff members have currently tested positive for COVID-19.

Ontario health officials say 2,081 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, and 288 of those patients are in intensive care, marking a significant increase in the number of people hospitalized with the disease.
