NORTHEAST, WI – Over-the-counter children’s medications are running out due to “tripledemia.”
Hospitals are seeing an increase in RSV, influenza and COVID-19 in children, which has led to shortages of children’s Tylenol, children’s ibuprofen and other medications.
According to the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, sales of medicines for children to treat pain and fever have increased by 65% compared to the same period last year.
“We were all masking up, we were social distancing, we were distancing from each other,” said ThedaCare CEO and Chairman Dr Imran Andrabi.
Dr Andrabi says we can expect the “triple epidemic” to slow down in four to six weeks. “We are currently in the area where there is probably no peak yet,” Andrabi said.
