The Times has reported that thousands of middle-aged Britons are dying of an easily treatable disease heart disease.

It is suspected that people were too scared to go to the NHS when the covid the pandemic was at its peak and did not receive life-saving statins or blood pressure pills.

Another contributing factor is thought to be that people were too scared to go to hospital for fear of catching the virus.

The Medical Adviser pointed out that the 5,170 men aged 50 to 64 who died could have been helped by heart medication.

Health and Social Care Secretary Steve Barclay agreed with Whitty and said: “Now a shared point of understanding must be the scale of the COVID backlog, with around 7.1 million patients .

“For example, we know from the data that there are more than 50 to 64 year olds with cardiovascular problems.

“This is the result of this age group delays seeing a GP due to the pandemic and in some cases not getting statins for hypertension in time.”

In an attempt to resolve the crisis, it was promised earlier this year that a network of up to 160 testing centers would be publicly available by 2025.

The Department of Health has so far opened more than 90 community diagnostic centers that Britons can access to test for cancer, heart and lung disease.
