The American Hospital Association (AHA), American Medical Association (AMA), and American Nurses Association (ANA) released the PSA today, which featured their leaders who highlighted that COVID-19 vaccines, including updated reminders, protect us from serious illness and death and are safe and effective.
According to the PSA, COVID-19 patients are still in hospital and very sick.
Additionally, approximately 234,000 COVID deaths since June 2021 could have been prevented with vaccination, a report featured in EMS in January, said.
The report shared that protection from COVID-19 vaccines can wane over time, so booster doses are needed to maintain robust immunity. The reported deaths indicate that many vaccinated people had the primary series or a booster several months or even more than a year earlier – leaving their immunity more vulnerable.
