Open an exciting new chapter in your career as a clinical pharmacy specialist by supporting our adult medicine team at UF Health Shands Hospital, a nationally recognized 1,162-bed academic medical center located in beautiful Gainesville, in Florida.

The Department of Pharmacy at UF Health Shands Hospital is seeking three new Clinical Pharmacy Specialists to provide services on our general care units for inpatient adults. Clinicians will work closely with interdisciplinary care teams, in conjunction with other pharmacy staff, to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to our patients. These three specialists will be the first to assume this role when setting up our brand new internal medicine pharmacy service. We are thrilled to welcome new faces as we celebrate the growth of our institution and the expansion of our resources.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provision of clinical pharmacy services for adult general practice patients
• Verification of medication orders for designated patients
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration to Optimize Pharmacotherapy and Prevent Adverse Drug Events
• Reporting of adverse events and medication errors if necessary
• Pharmacokinetic monitoring and consultation
• Provide medication information and education to medical and nursing staff
• Precept and mentor pharmacy students and pharmacy residents
• Ensure active participation in related research activities

In addition to the above, this position includes eligibility for appointment as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. Numerous teaching, research and professional development opportunities are also available.

Applicants must hold a Doctor of Pharmacy and have completed a PGY-1 pharmacy residency and a PGY-2 residency (or in the process of completing it), or equivalent experience is required.
