MS in Public Health
The Master of Science in Public Health is a fully online degree program which prepares students to take on leadership roles in organizations that address the most pressing public health issues. MS Public Health graduates are trained to plan and evaluate public health programs, analyze public health policies, manage health industries, and conduct theoretical research toward a doctorate. The program promotes the development of core public health skills, with courses in epidemiology, program planning and evaluation, health policy and administration, and applied field experience.
Results
Students will be able to:
- design a proposal to address a health disparity by incorporating ideas from a socio-ecological perspective that can be used to address the disparity.
- assess social and behavioral factors that affect the health of individuals and populations with particular emphasis on underserved communities.
- integrate knowledge of cultural values and practices into the design and evaluation of public health policies and programs.
- develop leadership skills at personal, organizational and national levels to advance public health and health equity.
- interpret the results of data analysis for public health research, policy or practice.
Career opportunities
Employment in public health fields is expected to increase by 12-28% over the next 10 years.
