A new podcast series by WNYC Studios and the History Channel is transporting listeners back to the 1980s, during the early days of the AIDS epidemic in the city.

“Blindspot: The Plague in the Shadows” is sharing the untold stories of those who fought and died from the illness as it ripped through communities of color.

The podcast includes interviews with doctors, nurses and patients at Harlem Hospital, which was one of the earliest epicenters of the epidemic.

Kai Wright, the host of the podcast and host of WNYC’s weekly radio show “Notes From America,” joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Friday to talk about epidemic and share his experience covering the effect of HIV/AIDS on communities.
