CWRU researchers find better way to diagnose oral cancers, reduce painful biopsies

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Researchers at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, have come up with a better way to detect cancers of the lips, tongue, mouth and upper throat.

Oral cancers can be especially difficult to diagnose early and accurately. Meanwhile, biopsies are expensive, unpleasant for the patient and can lead to complications. In some cases, multiple biopsies are not even possible.
