North Yorkshire libraries launch dementia support book collection

[ad_1]

Libraries across North Yorkshire have added a book collection to help families living with dementia.

The books, put together by the Reading Agency, provide information, advice and personal stories on the syndrome.

Much of the collection is aimed at the younger generation to help them understand what family members may be going through.

North Yorkshire Council said it wanted to “challenge the stigma” of dementia with its new project.

The collection includes children’s stories such as Elmer and the Gift, which is about caring for elderly family members.

It also includes biographies, such as Unforgettable by rugby player Steve Thompson, who was diagnosed with early onset dementia in his early 40s.
