GENESEE COUNTY, MI – The Genesee County Health Department is offering free HIV testing during a special event at its Sexual Health Clinic in Burton on National HIV Testing Day, Thursday, June 27.
County officials said in a news release the clinic, located at 3373 S. Saginaw St. in Burton, offers a rapid HIV test with results in 20 minutes and said each person who is tested on Thursday will have the chance to enter multiple raffles.
Free food, condoms, education, games, and testing for other sexually transmitted infections will also be available, according to the announcement.
The event runs from noon until 6 p.m. on Thursday.
County residents with questions regarding HIV testing or who want to schedule an appointment outside the event can call 810-237-4538.
The Health Department encourages everyone from 13-64 years old to include HIV testing in their health care routine. It says in its news release one in seven people living with HIV is unaware they have it, and undiagnosed infections spread HIV and delay linking patients to care.
First observed on June 27, 1995, National HIV Testing Day HTD encourages people to be tested and, if positive, link to care and treatment.
