West Nile virus found in Champaign-Urbana bird and mosquito populations

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WICS) — The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District has detected West Nile Virus in local bird and mosquito populations.

CUPHD recommends following these practices to stay safe:

• Drain standing water around your property
• Mosquito-proof your home
• Apply EPA approved insect repellent
• Wear long sleeves, long pants, and socks as weather permits, especially when outside at dusk and dawn
