Mayor Mitchell discusses after-school activities amid rise in EEE, West Nile Virus

The city of New Bedford is now a high risk location for EEE and West Nile Virus.

The announcement came after officials confirmed three new human cases of West Nile virus on Wednesday.

Many cities and towns are encouraging schools to move after school activities earlier to avoid peak mosquito time.

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell said it will be up to the school department to move game times.

Residents are being urged to exercise caution.
